First if you have heard of the recent book on Revelations, it sounds very enticing. A friend apprized us that Jonathan Kirsch was being interviewed on PBS during lunch-- refreshing.
Now, amplifying my (precipitious as usual) comment on Rev 5, I spent an hour folding it into my magnum opus.

It is an interesting opus (My claws just skitter off every time I try to climb Blake's prophetic books!) but awfully magnum!
I think the people in the one synagogue I attended briefly were typical in treating the reading for each week as an event which was still occuring. Moses was still leading them out of Egypt, bringing the Torah down from Sinai, etc. And there's a poem one of my characters wrote:
Herod always tries
to kill the children. It is
nothing you did
wrong; it is nature.
You should not
complain so.
But I think there's more to this than recurring metaphors, and I have a really hard time getting a grip on that "more to this."
