Luke 11.1-4

Once, in a certain place, Jesus was at prayer.

When he ceased, one of his disciples said, "Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples."

He answered, "When you pray, say:

Father, thy Name be hallowed--
Thy kingdom come.

Give us each day's bread
and forgive our sins--
for we too forgive all who have done us wrong--
and do not bring us to the test.

I love these small snippets we get about the fact that Jesus prayed. The disciples here do not converse about the subject matter of the prayers. They asked to be taught. The text reports the teaching on prayer. For starters. I fall short of remembering that it’s a good question to ask before any prayer – teach me how to pray for this situation. This case. This project. My own heart.
